Another Sexually Violent Predator Living on the Streets of Northern Colorado

Less than a month after it was announced 2 sexually violent predators have moved to the streets of Northern Colorado, news broke that yet another sexually violent predator will join them as a transient.

According to the Longmont Fire, Police and OEM Facebook page, 34-year-old Benjamin H. Weir has moved into the community. His address is listed as "Transient, Longmont, CO," and is described as being a 6'2" tall white male with brown hair, blue eyes, and weighing 190 pounds. He doesn't have a job nor a vehicle.

Weir was found guilty of attempted sexual assault on a child out of Boulder County, and is not currently under supervision. He's one of 4 citizens of Longmont classified as a "sexually violent predator" in Longmont, which has 263 sex offenders altogether as of August 16, 2016.

Law enforcement is required to notify the public when a sex offender who meets the criteria for "sexually violent predator" will be living in the community, and cannot legally prohibit them from living in the area.

The Colorado State Parole Board determines someone to be a "sexually violent predator" when they believe the individual poses a greater than normal risk to the community.
