Last week, six-year-old Vale Wolkow was fatally struck by an SUV while walking across a crosswalk near Lopez Elementary.

On Tuesday (Nov. 12), exactly one week later, another child was hit by a car outside of Colorado Early College Fort Collins near E. Harmony Road and McMurry Ave. around 3:27 p.m.

According to Denver7, the boy's identity was not released and the 18-year-old driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Luckily, a Fort Collins Police Services spokesperson stated that no one was transported to the hospital following the crash.

As a parent, these reports make me sick to my stomach. Let's all commit to keeping our eyes sharp this holiday season, especially at the crosswalk.
