Three individuals were taken into custody over the weekend after being arrested for burglary and several other charges in Weld County.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, a deputy with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched on a report of a suspicious vehicle, that appeared to be abandoned, sitting near the intersection of Highway 79 and Weld County Road 10. The reporting party stated that the suspicious, blue Ford Focus also had its hood open.

When the deputy arrived on scene, he observed another car had pulled up and parked behind the vehicle in question. In addition, there were three individuals opening the doors of the Ford and picking items up off the ground.

Upon contacting the individuals, the deputy learned that none of them owned the blue, Ford Focus. Also, in the midst of speaking to the three people on scene, the deputy located the battery of the Ford Focus in the back of their vehicle. Besides the battery that had clearly been cut out of the Ford, burglary tools were also found inside of the second car.

All three suspects were arrested on scene. 30-year-old Richard Martinez is being charged with 1st Degree Criminal Trespass, Possession of Burglary Tools, Theft, and an outstanding felony warrant.
