I am counting down my final days here at K99 and reminiscing about some of the moments that have stood out over the past 30 years. There are some great moments and some painful ones but these are some of the ones that have stood out. Today's memory falls into the painful category.

I will never forget January 21, 2007. That was the day Peyton Manning and the Colts were taking on Tom Brady and the Patriots to see who would go to the Super Bowl. I was a big Peyton fan so I was anxious to see him try to get to the big game. It was a snowy day and I went out to shovel before game time. Shorty after shoveling I felt an odd pain in my shoulder and into my back. I thought it was just muscles from shoveling but then the pain grew more intense and actually made me clutch my chest. I was sitting in the living room holding my chest when my daughter said, and I quote, "is something wrong dad? Do you need pie?" I  thought about the pie but realized I needed medical attention instead. I was rushed to the hospital where I was immediately attended to because I was in the middle of real life heart attack. I can't tell you how much this hurt but thank goodness for the outstanding medical care I received, I was back and rolling in just a couple of weeks.

There are a couple of things that stand out about that ordeal. First off, the Colts won and Peyton went on to win the Super Bowl. I know that when I came to after they fixed my heart, the first thing I asked was the score of the game. Another thing that stood out was the love of you and the prayers and support you smothered me with. The stuffed pug dog I am holding in the picture was given to me by my friend Keith and that Heart Attack Pug still lives in my room and always will. The other unforgettable thing about this was at the Colorado Farm Show in Greeley. The station had a huge get well card made up and had the patrons of the farm show sign it. I had so many well wishes on that card and I still have that card right along side my pug.

I am healthier than ever and don't ever plan on having another one of those but I will never forget the love and caring you poured over me. Thank you for always having my back.
