A Novelty in Colorado: A Conch Shell You Can Use as a Loud Horn [Video]
Years back I took a cruise to the Bahamas, to the islands of Nassau and Freeport. On the latter of those, they were selling these giant conch shells for $5. (In the U.S., you can order one online for like $45. Yeah, I know - Why would you do that?)
I was himmin' & hawin' about buying a souvenir, as buying crap adds up fast, and I'm very frugal. Then, this awesome salesman at the shop demonstrated how to use... yes, use... this shell... Much like I do here:
OKAY, okay, I'm not the best at it, but you get the idea. I was never a great clarinet player either, but just so you know, you form your mouth on the shell the same way you do on a clarinet or saxophone: pinch your lips tightly together and kind of smile - so it looks like you're trying to keep yourself from laughing (and you may be.) Then, pump some wind into that baby! Kids love it! Dogs - well, they react. And, it's a great conversation starter when you have company.
