It is a very difficult day here at K99. This is one of hardest things I have ever written. How do I put into words what Charley Barnes has meant to me, to K99 and to Northern Colorado?

I will never understand the ways of the business world and why certain decisions are made. I don't always understand or agree with what happens but know that there are things I have no control over. The departure of Charley is one of those things. Charley Barnes is no longer the afternoon drive host on K99. We will miss Charley more than you could ever imagine.

Charley has been more than a friend to me. There are no words to describe what he has meant to me. He has taught me how to be a better American, a better broadcaster, a better man and a better dad. Charley's dedication to his country and the men and women who serve and have served it is unmatched and to be admired. We rode through decades of change together and I was proud to ride with him every step of the way. Whenever I have had something come up in my life, the one constant has been Charley. He has been in hospital waiting rooms with me, held my hand after a heart attack, helped me when I have been at my lowest and cheered for me when I have been at the peak.

I am blessed to have so many incredible memories of all we have accomplished together. We may no longer work in the same building but my heart will always be full of Charley Barnes. I know you will miss him greatly as will I. I understand being upset that he is gone. I am not happy about it either but sometimes you have no control over what happens in the world. Charley will continue to make a difference and make the world a better place. I love you brother.
