A man has gone missing from Carter Lake while kayaking.

According to a press release from the Larimer County Sheriff's Department, at around 2 p.m. on Sunday, an overturned kayak was found on Carter Lake along with an uninjured dog wearing a flotation device.

This case has brought out teams of the best of the best to search the lake. The Larimer County Dive Rescue Team, Loveland Fire Dive Rescue Team, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Larimer County Natural Resources, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team, Loveland Fire Rescue Authority and Berthoud Fire Protection District have all responded to the area to search for the kayaker, believed to be a 31-year-old male from Loveland.

As a result, Carter Lake will be closed to the public today (Monday, April 12) as the search continues to be ongoing. Anyone with information is being asked to call the Larimer County Sheriff's Department at 970-416-1985.
