A Colorado bill could ban plastic bags, straws, stirrers, and polystyrene foodservice products that are intended for one-time use. If Colorado House Bill HB20-1163 is passed, the law will take place starting on July 1, 2021.

The ban would be specifically driven to customers at the point of sale. The prohibition of the single-use items would not apply to purchased inventory prior to July 1, 2021. After July 1, 2021, stores or retail food locations could furnish recyclable paper bags at a cost of 10 cents per bag.
