Boulder Is a Better Place to Live Than Fort Collins, That's Fine

According to U.S. News and World Report's list of the best places to live in the country in 2021, Boulder is better than Fort Collins, and we're actually totally fine with that. No, really.

Sure, we have a (small) rivalry with Boulder. However, we're not bitter that U.S. News and World Report said that it is the best place to live in all of the United States. Northern Colorado locals will tell you that it wasn't until Fort Collins started topping list after list that it saw a major influx of transplants. So, yeah. We're OK taking a back seat on this one.

In fact, Colorado Springs also beat Fort Collins in the ranking, at number six; So did Denver, at number 14. If you scroll all the way down to 17 — that's where you'll find Fort Collins. Out of 150, 17's not so bad, but it's also not too good.

'Fort Collins was once overshadowed by Colorado’s heavily populated Front Range and famous mountain ski towns,' U.S. News and World Report said. 'That status has changed as new residents – increasingly priced out of the Denver or Boulder markets – have moved an hour north to join a growing community that retains a small-town feel.'

But, where do we go when we're priced out of here? The report also notes that because Fort Collins has grown so rapidly, it's been 'forced to reevaluate its transportation and infrastructure.'
