Brian and I attended the 50th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas over the weekend with our lovely wives. Although we didn't win, it was an honor to be nominated for Small Market Personalities of the Year.

One of the perks of being nominated was free tickets to the show. We decided since this was the 50th anniversary and the 1st time in Texas, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to go. So we bought our plane tickets and booked a hotel.

However, it's not always as glamorous as it might seem. We had to walk over a mile to get to the stadium in our fancy clothes, so we were sweaty when we got there. When we arrived it took them over an hour to find our seats. That is because they were behind the stage. Nobody seemed to even know those seats existed. When we finally did get seated, we couldn't see half of the performances, because of our placement in the arena. I am honestly not complaining. Just letting you know what happened from our point of view. I can't wait to see what we missed on TV.

It was very cool to be part of a World Record for the "largest awards show audience ever" and it was extremely cool to be at the 50th annual event. There were so many highlights on Sunday. Hopefully the pictures that my wife Jenny and I took will show that. We got to be in the same building as George Strait, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Reba, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney and so many more huge stars and the show sounded fantastic. We ran into a few stars at the awards show, like Kellie Pickler, Clay Walker, Kelsie Ballerini, Brothers Osborne, Mo Pitney, and Michael Ray. We also had Dr. Phil, Montgomery Gentry, and Eric Paslay brush by us as they made their way to their seat. Overall, an amazing experience.
