Greeley Police Officer Dan Frazen asked us to be part of the 2013 Northern Colorado Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics on Wednesday, and what an honor it was.  What we didn't know is that we would be leading the pack with the K99 Truck.

It was very soggy day, raining start to finish, but the officers who participated were troopers.  We didn't hear one complaint from any of the runners who got soaked during the event because everyone was there to support Special Olympics! Brian and I were nice and warm in our truck.

The run  start at 7 am north of Frederick and finished about an hour early at 1p.m. at Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley.  We couldn't believe how fast all the Greeley PD, Weld County Sheriff's Deputies, Evans PD, Frederick PD, UNC PD, Eaton PD, Parole, Probation, the DA’s Office, and Johnstown PD were able to run. O.K. the DA's office wasn't that fast, but they were quick to volunteer.

Law Enforcement Torch RunThe whole point of the Torch Run is to kick off the Special Olympics Summer Games, which is June 1st & 2nd in Grand Junction at Colorado Mesa University. The Summer Games is the biggest Special Olympics Colorado competition of the year! The two-day event brings together athletes from across the state to compete in five sports: Athletics, Aquatics, Gymnastics, Powerlifting & Soccer.
