The team I cheer for rarely wins. I am a Minnesota Viking fan and we have never won a Super Bowl and I am a pug owner and we never win the Westminster Kennel Club Show. The family was gathered around the last 2 nights watching the dog show ready to cheer on the pug entry. Every year we watch hoping it is a good entry, like when you watch the Miss America contest and hope your state has a chance.

This year, just like every other year, the pug, Oscar, didn't make the cut. I think the swimsuit portion of the program always take them out of consideration. They just aren't made for a 2 piece and they are too chunky looking in a one piece plus they just bomb in the talent program. Apparently the judges are not too impressed with snorting for distance as a talent. We watched and enjoyed seeing all the different puppies. I just love dogs and this is a great chance to see all the different types of breeds out there, including the new ones this year. I have to think that all the dogs that aren't in the show laugh at how manicured the show dogs are. "Hey look at Spud on TV. Is that a bow in his hair?!? He will never hear the end of this next time we chase cars together."

Congrats go out to Hickory, the 5 year old Scottish deer-hound that won best in show this year. Enjoy your reign Mr. Deer-hound and look out because next year will be the year of the pug! I can hardly wait to hear the snort of victory.
