In light of the indefinite closure of I-70 through Glenwood Canyon, the Colorado Department of Transportation is altering the Bustang detour route to allow service to resume to and from Glenwood Springs between Grand Junction and Denver.

Right now, both eastbound and westbound routes are active and traveling back and forth along the I-70 detour.

In the official release from CDOT, the deputy director of their Division of Transit and Rail, Mike Timlin, said:

Glenwood Springs is a key location for us on the Western Slope [...] This closure could extend for several days or even long so it's imperative for us to resume service to Glenwood as soon as possible.

Between Rifle and Wolcott, the current detour for Bustang is CO 13, U.S. 40, and CO. 131. The trip between Grand Junction in Denver pre-mudslides was about five hours and 40 minutes. That trip will now take about nine hours and 45 minutes.

Please note that the bus will only stop at flag stops if there is a passenger there needing to be picked up or a passenger requests to be dropped off. With the new route, some stop locations are still being determined.
