Over the weekend my wife and I camped at Larimer County's Hermit Park Open Space in the Granite Gulch Campground.  What a beautiful area!  About 15 years ago we had camped at Hermit Park with a few friends who worked at Hewlett Packard. Since then HP has sold the land to Larimer County. It is a true jewel of Northern Colorado.

The 1,362 acres of Hermit Park Open Space ranges from 7,880 to 8,964 feet in elevation. You will find Ponderosa pine forests and wetland meadow and lots of  mountain wildlife.

Features include cabins, RV and tent camping, group campground, reservable group pavilion, and trails for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. It's is dry camping so there is not electricity or water provided.

According to the Hermit Park Website:

The preservation of this stunning area was a joint effort between Larimer County, Agilent Technologies, Town of Estes Park, Estes Valley Land Trust, Great Outdoors Colorado, City of Loveland, Erion Foundation, City of Fort Collins, McWhinney Foundation, Town of Berthoud, and many more contributors.

Hermit Park Open Space requires entrance and camping permits, and is open March through mid December. It is located 2 miles southwest of Estes Park, Colorado.
