I think that Jim Croce is one of the more underrated artists of the last 50 years. Jim died in a plane crash on this date in 1973. He was only 30 years old and had a huge career ahead of him. Many younger folks may not know the name Jim Croce but I bet they know some of his songs.

The Rockies lost a heart breaker in extra innings to the Dodgers last night. The Rocks are now a game and a half behind the Dodgers for first place. They play again tonight and the Rockies need this one. There are only 11 games left in the season to clinch the division or break our hearts.

Today could end up being a very annoying day. Today is Talk Like a Pirate Day. Oh sure, it's cute for a few minutes but there is always someone in the office, I won't name names...TODD!!, who always pushes the annoyance factor.

There are some songs that define a time in our lives. The 'Urban Cowboy' soundtrack had one of those tunes. That movie was a cultural phenomenon that brought country into the mainstream and made it hotter than it had ever been. One song in particular still lives on from that time

Colorado is big ole melting pot. We have people from all over the country and the rest of the world, that make up our growing population. We have had so many people moving here over the past couple of decades but where are they coming from?

I don't know about you but I am rather looking forward to having some cooler temps. We have been in the 90's for a long time now it seems and I am ready for a break. It sounds like one may be coming this weekend.

It was 95 years ago today, back in 1923, that the voice that would define country music was brought into this world in Mount Olive, Alabama. Hank Williams, who put the lonesome sound into country music was born today.

We have a long birthday cake making tradition in our home. One of us, usually me, always bakes and decorates a cake for whoever's birthday it is in the family. It is usually poorly written and unprofessionally decorated but comes from the heart and always means the world to me. I love making them and this year I got one!

Welcome to the weekend. You did it! You made it through another week. We have a lot to be thankful for. We live in the greatest place on earth and have the finest people on the planet living in it. Even though we have a lot of fabulousness we all still have moments of difficulty and need a little help now and then.

Today is a very special day for me. Not only is today the 53rd anniversary of my birth, it is also the one year anniversary of me reaching the 100 lb weight loss mark. I can't believe it was one year ago today that I stepped on that scale at Benchmark Medical Group in Windsor and saw that magical number.

The state of Colorado is known for many things. People come from all over the world to recreate and sight see all over this great state. We have the mountains for skiing and fishing and climbing. We have so many outdoor venues and historical sights. This is the greatest place on the planet to live.

Today is one of those dark days in the history of country music. It was on this day 15 years ago that Johnny Cash passed away at the age of 71. There are few artists from any form of the entertainment field that made the kind of lasting impact Johnny Cash did. I am actually wearing my Johnny Cash t-shirt today
