Last week on Highway 9, just north of Silverthorne, a moose was struck by a car and it was caught on video.
Youtube user Kayla Whitehead captured the incident on video.

Some people might find this video disturbing as it is graphic.

Thankfully, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, neither the moose or the passengers of the vehicle sustained serious injuries.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife posted these tips to hopefully avoid any accidents such as this in the future:
Slow Down - Driving slower will increase reaction times and could reduce the chance of an accident
Scan Ahdead - check for movement on the side of the roads. If you are driving at night, watch out for "shining eyes".
Obey Traffic Signs - especially in a situation like this, proceed with caution when you see a wildlife warning sign.
