Celebrate Our Veterans Event at Veterans Plaza in Fort Collins Sunday
The Veterans Plaza of Northern Colorado at Spring Canyon Community Park in Fort Collins is hosting a celebration on Sunday to honor our veterans. 2 new computer monitors will be unveiled. There will be live music, a Blackhawk helicopter, vintage military vehicles, and re-enactors form the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWII, and Vietnam. There is also a CSU Veterans 5K fun run.
Here is the Schedule of events for Sunday, May 26th:
- 9 a.m. CSU Veterans 5k Fun Run -Starts at Hughes Stadium at 9:00 am and ends at the Plaza. There will be parking and a shuttle at Hughes Stadium.
- 10:30 – Band Starts: Been-there-done-that at the Plaza
- Blackhawk Helicopter, Military Vehicles, and Re-enactors, and activities for the kids
Ceremony at noon
- Flag ceremony
- Staff Sergeant John Jones, USMC is keynote. Speaks to veterans sacrifice
- Awarding Purple Heart to CPL Bob Wuestenberg, Army, Vietnam Vet. He did not receive his medal when wounded in the war
- Major General H. Michael Edwards, the Adjutant General for Colorado National Guard will speak and present medal to Wuestenberg
- 1:00 Boltz Middle School Orchestra will play piece written by one of the students to honor our veterans
- 1:30 Veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and present day will speak and interact with audience
- 1:30 Music from Been-there-done-that
