The Colorado State University football team's new defensive coordinator is a familiar face to the program.

Chuck Heater returns to the same position he held in the 1991 and 1992 seasons under Earle Bruce, the school announced in a press release on Wednesday.

Heater also previously served as defensive coordinator under new Rams coach Steve Addazio at Temple.

"I am excited to bring Chuck back to Fort Collins as a part of this coaching staff," Addazio said in the press release.

"He has national-championship level experience, and I am looking forward to seeing our defense take shape under his leadership.”

Heater has also been on the staffs at Colorado, Washington, Utah, Florida, Marshall, Maryland, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Northern Arizona and Toledo.

He has coached three National Championship teams (Notre Dame, 1988; Florida, 2006 and 2008) and coached in 30 bowl games.

CSU also announced the hiring of Louie Addazio as Offensive Line coach, Sean Cronin as Inside Linebackers coach and Antonie Smith as Defensive Line coach. The Rams are retaining Anthony Perkins as Cornerbacks coach.

A few more positions are likely to be filled in the coming days.
