Anytime a child loses his life it's devastating, especially at just one year old. This horrible incident took place last January in Canon City, Colorado, and to make this worse the one-year-old was run over by his own father.

38-year-old Issac Bullard is now going to serve 6 years behind bars for marijuana charges and another 6 years for vehicular homicide, these sentences will run back to back according to the Fremont County Clerk and Recorder's Office as first reported by Fox 21 News.

While sentencing was just handed down for this case we are finding out more about what exactly happened leading up to the death of the one-year-old. The Fremont County Sheriff's are saying that the incident took place while Bullard and his son were on their way to their babysitter's house. Mr. Bullard was loading everything into his truck including his dogs but somehow forgot his son. That is when he jumped into his driver's seat and pulled away, and the boy was never put into the vehicle.

He didn't realize until he was a few streets away about his error and turned back around to his house. When pulling back into his driveway he discovered his son unresponsively. He tried taking his son to a nearby fire station but the damage was already done and the boy was gone.

It's difficult for me to even write this story because it was avoidable. This boy didn't need to die and I cannot imagine what the boy's mother is going through trying to get over this tragedy.
