If you feel like that there has been more rain and moisture than normal this year, you are not alone. There has been more rain in certain parts of the state in the first half of 2021 than the entirety of 2020.

According to KDVR, Denver has gotten more rainfall in the first five months of 2021 than the entire year of 2020. Over the weekend, Denver International Airport reported a total of 1.30 inches of rainfall. The recent storms have pushed the total past 2020's accumulation. As of May 24, a total of 9.78 inches has fallen at Denver International Airport. 2020's total rainfall for the entire year was 8.74 inches.

Being that it is still spring, we will probably see more rain before the hot temperatures of summer come to Colorado. We can certainly say that all the rain is a good thing for Colorado.

2021 has been good to the city of Denver when it comes to precipitation. As of April, Denver had the snowiest winter in 37 years with a total of 80.2 inches of snow.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, much of the Front Range is out of drought. However, the western slopes of Colorado are still facing exceptional drought conditions.
