The Centennial State is home to one of the best education systems in the U.S.

According to U.S News, Colorado is among the top five best education systems in the country, coming in at #5.

The states were ranked on performance in higher education, as well as primary and secondary schooling and pre-K education.

The measures taken into account to rank each state included:

  • the percentages of adults with associate degrees or higher
  • the rates of students completing public four-year and two-year college programs within 150% of the normal time
  • the average tuition and fees for in-state students at public institutions
  • the average debt load of graduates from public and private colleges

In addition, the states were ranked on the percentages of children enrolled in preschool and compared based on the national testing of eighth graders in math and reading, on the rates of graduation from high school and students' readiness for college.

Colorado also ranks among the top 10 states for healthcare and economy in the country, coming in at #10 and #2, respectively.
