CSU Oval in the Fall
loading...

It's always been one of my favorite spots in Fort Collins, the CSU Oval.   Colorado State  is famous for the beautiful elm trees around the Oval.  Now the University has been named an official Tree Campus USA.  The honor was given out by the Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota Motor North America Inc.

On Friday,  April 20th, the Arbor Day Foundation will visit CSU to lead a 2012 Arbor Day observance ceremony at the CSU Oval, which will include the planting of 27 American elms as part of the Oval Preservation Fund.

According to a press release from Colorado State University:

To become a 2011 Tree Campus USA, CSU was required to demonstrate that it will ensure the protection and maintenance of the campus’ urban forest, reduce hazardous tree risks to public safety and maintain a sustainable campus forest through tree species diversity and best management practices. The university joins more than 150 American colleges and universities recognized by the program.
