When Colorado State University sports return to Canvas Stadium and Moby Arena, the school is planning for scenarios of 25 percent, 50 percent and full capacity of fans.

CSU Athletic Director Joe Parker spoke to the media Wednesday in a video conference call and unveiled how the school is preparing for live Rams sports in the post-COVID-19 pandemic.

“There’s still a lot of uncertainty,” Parker said. “As we get closer to the seasons, we should have more clarity.”

Parker said if physical distance seating is required, priority would be given to season ticket holders and students.

Members of the CSU football team began returning to campus on Monday and are returning in three different phases. All of the student athletes are undergoing a health screen and COVID test before being cleared to return to voluntary workouts.

All practices are currently held outdoors — indoor weight and meeting rooms remain closed.

“This whole return has been well thought out and orchestrated,” Parker said. “We always put the health and well-being of our student athletes first.”

Parker said CSU athletics is working with the school pandemic team to bring other fall sports back to campus, but no official returns have been finalized yet.
