Colorado State University produces a lot of really smart people who are movers and shakers among us.

The latest to get nationally recognized is Deanne Criswell who was just selected to lead the FEMA under President Joe Biden.

FEMA of course, is the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The agency implemented by Jimmy Carter in 1979 to help with local and state authorities during times of emergency.

Criswell had been mostly recently serving as New York City’s head of emergency management. Before that she served in President Obama's FEMA administration.

“As we face the devastating impacts of COVID-19, as well as the increasing threat of climate change, it is imperative that FEMA addresses these challenges with innovative ideas to serve all Americans fairly and equitably,” Criswell said in a written statement put out Friday morning by City Hall. “I look forward to this incredible opportunity.”
