I said I'm proud to be a CSU Ram — and Colorado State University is extremely proud to once have again landed on the list of the Sierra Club's “Cool Schools,” an honor that they've now earned for the last eight years in a row.

The national magazine's "Cool Schools" rankings focus on strong environmental practices that are taking place at colleges and universities across North America. Independent researchers use a customized scoring system, in which they rank different categories, including environmentally-focused curricula and renewable energy and waste management operations. The Sierra Club then determines which higher education institutions are the most sustainable.

As for the 2021 rankings, CSU came in at number 10 on the list. The university makes tremendous efforts to address issues like climate change and protecting the natural world, while also encouraging environmental responsibility through on-campus operations and academics.

Arizona State University earned the top spot in this year's rankings, followed by University of California-Irvine in second place. Other schools in the top 10 were Thompson Rivers University (Kamloops, British Columbia), Cornell, State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry (Syracuse, New York), and UC-Berkeley.

The highest that Colorado State has ever found itself on the list was in fourth place, which occurred in both 2015 and 2018.
