It sucks to have a loud neighbor. Especially when your neighbor is the Denver International Airport (DIA).

That's the situation for Adams County.

But unlike most of us, instead of just swearing about their noisy neighbor under their breath, the county decided to sue DIA.

According to The Denver Post, the county filed a lawsuit against the airport in 2018, asserting that DIA was not properly monitoring noise from its airplanes that flew over nearby neighborhoods.

Now, the publication reports that Jefferson County District Judge Christie Bachmeyer has sided with Adams County, stating that DIA's failure to properly measure aircraft noise was a violation of its intergovernmental agreement with the county.

Bachmeyer made the decision on Friday (June 19), and ordered DIA to pay $33.5 million to Adams County for noise violations.

Quiet down, planes.
