A man is now in Denver police custody after DNA from his shorts connected him to a 2014 theft case.

Rodney Mark Hendrix, 49, has been charged with 2 counts of burglary and theft, and one count of identity theft, after allegedly burglarizing a Denver pre-school and church in August 2014.

Investigators say that, after  he allegedly stole guitars and electronics, Hendrix left behind a pair of shorts with fecal matter before fleeing the scene of the crime. Test results on the DNA came back positive as Hendrix's.

Hendrix was already in custody of the Colorado Department of Corrections for unrelated theft and drug charges.
