We all know people will drink on St. Patrick's day. It's tradition. The Colorado Department of Transportation is asking everyone to “Drink & Don’t Drive” as they embrace the Irish heritage over St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Heightened DUI enforcement begins tonight at 6 pm and runs through 3 am on Tues., March 18.

Through The Heat Is On campaign, the Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement agencies throughout the state will work towards removing drunk drivers from Colorado roadways.Everyone who will be drinking is encouraged to designate a sober driver or take an alternate mode of transportation to keep the roads safe over the weekend.

Last year in Colorado 486 DUI arrests were made during St. Patrick’s Day weekend, but there were no fatalities last year during the enforcement period. Nearly 90 law enforcement agencies throughout Colorado will participate in the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement event.
