I didn't want to write on this because I don't want this to sound like a "hey look at me" kind of blog. I want this to be a call to action. A call to do something for a those who have served our country and feel the joy of making the day of someone who was willing to give all. I have to share this story, not so you say "that was really nice of you" but so maybe you will do the same kind of thing.

I was in line at the grocery store and the man in front of me had a WWII Vet hat on. I was thrilled to be so close to a WWII vet and have the chance to say thank you. I reached up and shook his hand and thanked him for all he has done. He smiled and said you're welcome. As he was writing out his check I whispered to the clerk to let me pay. He went to hand her the check and she told him I had already paid for it. He was so taken aback. I told him it was the least I could do. He grabbed my hand again and thanked me. I was honored and so thankful for the chance to do it. He walked out of the store telling anyone that would listen what had happened. I can't explain how good that felt. If you see a vet, do what you can to show your thanks. You will feel even better than they do. Honored.
