The chest was hidden in the Rocky Mountain region and a poem was written as a treasure map. The treasure chest was hidden in 2010 and took a decade for treasure hunters to find it.

Initially, the finder and Fenn agreed to keep the location secret, but they both agreed that it is important for closure to those who have been searching for the treasure. All we know is that the treasure chest was found in the state of Wyoming. That very well could be the only thing we ever find out about the location of the treasure.
