A group in Northern Colorado has banded together to make essential garments for healthcare workers who are running out of clean masks and medical gowns.

The Facebook group is called "Sew it for COVID". Their mission is simple: make personal protective equipment for healthcare workers and nursing homes.

"Together we can work to ensure that our frontline workers have the gear they need to stay safe."

They have patterns for gowns and masks in their shareable group files, so you can help make these much-needed materials if you desire. It's definitely one way to help pass the long hours of social distancing. The group wants sewers to make sure that the fabric they use is washable in high temperatures and able to withstand the high chemical levels necessary to sanitize these products during cleaning.

"Drop off locations are available in many Colorado and Wyoming cities - please send private message to Corrie Hopler or Lisa Deulen for exact locations."

Hopefully, this will help bridge the gap in the need for gowns and face masks in Northern Colorado.

"These items will be distributed to local nursing homes including Fort Collins Health Care Center, Spring Creek Health Care Center, Windsor Health Care Center, Sierra Vista Health Care Center, Applewood Living Center, Berthoud Living Center, Boulder Manor, Kenton Manor, Centennial Health Care Center, and more..."
