Fort Collins Partners With Library For Chromebook Lending Program

The pandemic sent many kids home from school, which meant Zoom classes and virtual learning. Many wondered, what about the kids who don't have direct access to technology? The City of Fort Collins and the Poudre Library District have joined together to solve that issue, as well as to improve access to digital information with their new Chromebook program.

This program isn't just for kids: it's also to promote digital learning for all who need it in a world that very quickly turned virtual. According to a press release,

Borrowers are encouraged to use the Chromebooks to attend online City Council meetings, participate in virtual library programs, and complete other essential activities like filling out job applications and applying for unemployment.

The library district is working to lessen the digital divide amongst families in Fort Collins, and by lending out Chromebooks through this program, they hope to make engaging with local government and participating in the digital world easier than ever.
