In the coming months, Fort Collins Police will be making an effort to crack down on dangerous driving behaviors within the city.

In a press release sent out on Thursday, the community was made aware about a campaign that FCPS will be implementing, as a measure to make the streets safer and hopefully reduce the number of injury and fatal collisions. In both marked and unmarked vehicles, police officers will be targeting various intersections and other locations throughout Fort Collins, specifically looking for violations/behaviors that contribute to collisions. This include things like speeding, red light violations, following too closely, and turning in front of oncoming traffic.

Through education and enforcement, the campaign supports the city’s commitment to safety, as well as the recently adopted Moving Towards Vision Zero initiative. FCPS are making this effort in partnership with the Traffic Operations Department, who have provided city-wide accident data and analysis to identify the top locations where traffic violations leading to collisions tend to occur. Police Services will provide regular updates on their efforts. If you believe a traffic safety issue exists, please contact the Traffic Hotline at 970-221-6842. Drive safe, Fort Collins!
