Artic air has been moving over Fort Collins and it's only going to get chillier.

The National Weather Service has a far from a toasty forecast for Northern Colorado this Valentine's Weekend: Along with subzero temperatures, there's a good chance of snowfall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 12-14).

Saturday has a low of -5 degrees and a high of 14. Wind chill values as low as -13 are forecasted. 1-3 inches of new snow are predicted.

Sunday, you'll have to find a way to warm your heart on Valentine's Day with a predicted high of 5 and low of -11.

If it actually reaches -11, it would be the coldest day in Fort Collins since temps hit -16 on Jan. 6, 2017.

WeatherSpark says the average low in Fort Collins in February is between 20-26 degrees. The average high is between 42-49 degrees.

According to data from the Colorado State University climate center, Friday morning (Feb. 12) was the first time below zero in Fort Collins in 2021. Wednesday and Thursday were 2 of 3 2021 days where the low dipped into the single digits.

Temps dipped into the negatives twice in 2020: going -4 on Feb. 5 and -3 on Oct. 27.

The Coldest Temps Recorded In Colorado History

Like most things with Colorado, the weather won't stay the same forever. Temperatures are expected to return to mid 30s by Tuesday (Feb. 16). Let's hope that rings true and temps return closer to their normal averages.
