You will find very little debate to the fact that the sound of real country music was born in the voice of George Jones. There is probably no other singer in the history of country music who was more "country" than George. He influenced country singers from the 1950’s all the way to today.

George had over 150 hits and at least 15 number one hits. George topped the charts for the very first time back in 1959 with a cover of the J.P. Richardson hit ‘White Lightning’. He had many other hits but I would say this one and ‘He Stopped Loving Her Today’ are his two of his biggest and most memorable. It is very hard to choose when he had so many classics. Take a trip in the way back machine and check out George at the beginning of his amazing career.
