Get this:  A Georgia high school boys basketball team made the stunning decision to forfeit its scheduled playoff game rather than face a potential violent reaction from its own student body and that of its competitor after a similar matchup in football season yielded ugly results. Well, let me rephrase that:  The School Board made the decision...NOT the team!

When I first read this story I had to read it again.  Who's idea was this and how was this going to help the situation I asked myself.  I feel sorry for these poor kids who are suffering the decision of what I see as an incompetent school board by proving they are incapable of making the "right" decision vs. the easy one.

Rather than trying to avoid a humiliating loss, Warren County is simply trying to avoid a repeat of the nasty brawl that followed the football game between the two schools in October. The melee drew national attention and forced Warren County head coach David Daniel to undergo major surgery after he was beaten by a Hancock Central helmet.

I personally think this is the wrong decision and a bad one at that! Our school are on this big campaign of not letting others bully you and this high school is worried as well about embarrassing blowout?  So now the school board, in my opinion, has just sent the opposite message by forfeiting a PLAYOFF game because they don't want to face the bullies.

How fair is this to the actual kids who are PLAYING THE GAME!

The team gathered in unity outside the school with their arms locked showing they wanted to play.

Am I wrong?  Should they have forfeited this game?  How can they?  How do you teach the children the things that are important then cower down in the face of adversary!  This should have been a chance to show these 2 teams how athletics should be displayed and played; not turn and run.

A nasty incident could have been avoided with the threat of hefty consequences if things get out of hand.  I mean come on, why not just disband one of the teams all together so they NEVER have to face each other again or at the very least, one of these teams will have to be moved into a different conference.

Come on man!  Can't we all just hug and get along!
