After Microsoft Operations reported a child pornography image was uploaded to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, an investigator requested a summons to Centurylink for the IP address used. The address was listed to the 2500 block of 12th Avenue Court in Greeley.

Law enforcement used a Wi-Fi analyzer to check the network used in the incident to determine if access required a password. The detective spoke with the homeowner and her adult son, who consented to have their devices searched. Police found alleged child pornography on Reid Vanbemmel's laptop.

The laptop and hard drive were sent to Northern Colorado Regional Forensic Laboratory, where there were more than 20 images found. Reid Vanbemmel was arrested on Friday and faces a charge for more than 20 images of sexual exploitation of children.
