Harley-Davidson is Recalling Almost 67,000 Touring and CVO Touring Models

It looks like the 2014 Harley-Davidson Touring and CVO Touring bikes have an issue that can cause the front tire to lock, and that is never a good thing. If you have a new touring model, check your dealer.

Harley-Davidson just announced today that they are recalling 66,421 Touring and CVO Touring 2014 motorcycles because the front wheel can lock up without warning. You know that won't be good or end well.

If you have a touring or CVO touring model with anti-lock brakes built between July 1, 2013, and May 7, 2014, you are on the hit list. If it were me, I wouldn't be riding the bike at all until checked with your local or purchasing dealer. You should be notified by the end of the month but I would be calling as of right now.

Harley-Davidson Inc. says,

...the front brake line can get pinched between the fuel tank and the frame. That could cause front brake fluid pressure to increase, increasing the risk that the front wheel could lock up while riding.

The defect was discovered through warranty claims and there have been crashes and injuries associated with the issue...don't take a chance. Harley-Davidson will notify owners later this month. If you own one of these models, your brake lines will be replaced, free of charge, and they will then attach straps to hold them in place.
