The University of Northern Colorado is once again facing a very difficult loss. This time around, it's the heartbreaking passing of Aleshia Armour, mother, educator, friend, principal of Overland High School and wife of UNC assistant football coach Mike Armour.

According to the Greeley Tribune, Armour died of natural causes. Cherry Creek schools cancelled school on Monday to mourn their loss and allow students, friends and staff members of the deceased to process the loss.

This is the third death the UNC football program has had to deal with in the last year. The first of which was assistant coach and former Stanford standout Zach Hoffpauir, who died last May of an accidental overdose.

The second was Vincent Jackson, who had a very productive NFL career and was one of the program’s top players ever. He died just weeks ago in a hotel room, and now UNC must bear the loss of Aleshia Armour.

She was clearly loved by many, and any time we lose such an incredible member of society, especially at such an young age, there is a major impact.  A number of former students hosted a candlelight vigil on Sunday night to remember their teacher and principal.

State Sen. Rhonda Fields, who is a UNC alumna, also honored Aleshia Armour, who was Fields’ oldest granddaughter’s first Black teacher.

Our thoughts are with Aleshia's friends and family. R.I.P.
