Hobby Lobby was ordered to close all of its Colorado stores on Wednesday by the state's attorney general's office.

Debate had raged on social media over whether the craft store was an essential business or not.

Last week, the founder of Hobby Lobby sent a letter to all his stores stating that his wife Barbara had received a "heavenly vision from God" telling her to keep stores open during this pandemic.

The Denver Post reports that Hobby Lobby's punishment will come at a later court date. The establishment is cited with a "general violation" for violating the stay at home order.

Violations are punishable up to $999 per citation or jail time.
