Fall is in the air and the countdown to Halloween is on. What a great time to take advantage of the fact that we have one of the few remaining drive-in movie theatres, right here in Northern Colorado.

The Holiday Twin Drive-In has announced a lineup of Halloween movies you can view this week. Favorites like Beetlejuice and The Addams Family will be on the big screen as well as Shang-Chi, Venom and Zombieland.

The drive-in movie was patented by a man in New Jersey in 1932 according to Wikipedia. The man with the plan nailed a large screen to some trees. "He set a 1928 Kodak projector on the hood of his car and put a radio behind the screen, testing different sound levels with his car windows down and up." He advertised his drive-in theater with the slogan, "The whole family is welcome, regardless of how noisy the children are."

The sound quality continued to be the biggest challenge as drive-in movie theatres starting springing up all over the country. The days of one main speaker near the screen or of hanging the speaker on your car window are gone. The sound now comes through your car stereo.

The Holiday Twin Drive-In is at 2206 South Overland Trail in Fort Collins.
