Hearing that it's not easy to find a place to live in Fort Collins is not new to anyone who's been here for at least 10 years. Finding a home that is affordable has been a bigger complaint for most places south of us, but it has become a growing concern recently for those wanting to live in the city.

The Coloradoan recently reported about some folks trying to wedge themselves into the ever growing city at a reasonable price. One person from Kalispell, Montana is finding it difficult to find the right place and hoping that the profits from the sale of her home is enough to live in Fort Collins. The other couple spent months looking for the right place for the right price but then decided on Wellington due to lower home prices.

Zillow has Fort Collins' median listing price at $378,900, but the Colorado Association of Realtors say homes are selling for more than that. According to the Coloradoan, homes in Larimer County have a median price of $405,000 this year and makes it the "16th-most expensive of Colorado's 64 counties in which to buy a home."

Home sales are slowing, perhaps due to the higher prices, but there also new home buying options sprouting up in neighboring towns like Wellington and Windsor.
