At 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, the automotive garage on Riverside Ave. will host Houska Garage Band - Do the Right Thing. The concert fundraiser will benefit Connor Walsh, who was injured in a hit-and-run accident in Fort Collins last spring.

We talked to LJ Houska, and his wife, Jen, about the event, which will be a community potluck and host live music from the Uncle Cuz Band.

'What we're trying to do is raise $20,000,' LJ said. 'When Connor had the accident, he was 15 years old and just got his learner's permit. Of course, this is an age where getting your driver's licence is a bit of freedom that you get.  We know that he's done his own research, and a vehicle that's going to work good for him to get in and use, but also carry the wheelchair that he needs, is a Chevy Silverado.'

The Houskas are planning to add hand controls to the truck for Connor.

They have been planning the event with Connie Hanrahan of Mantooth Marketing, and a number of volunteers from the community. Poudre High School will also be hosting a Flashback Friday Movie Night fundraiser the night prior to the event.

'Fort Colllins cares. It really shows,' he said.
