I Was On The Air When Keith Whitley Died 24 Years Ago – Brian’s Blog [VIDEO]

One of the first songs I played when I was getting started at K99 25 years ago was Keith Whitley's "I'm No Stranger To The Rain". I just loved that voice. Such a pure country instrument. We used to have a little teletype unit here that the news would come off of. I remember grabbing the latest news update and being shocked at what I read. I could not believe that this 33 year old with so much to live for had died of alcohol poisoning. What a tragic loss. I can only imagine how huge of star he would have been. He was only around for a short time but influenced many of today's stars. Here are a few Keith gems, you may or may not know and the actual news footage from that day in 1989.
