We got the trifecta yesterday morning. On Wednesday, we saw a blue moon and a supermoon and a total lunar eclipse, all rolled into one. There hasn’t been a showing like this since 1982 and the next won’t occur until 2037.

On Monday the supermoon was the closest full moon to earth since 1948, and it won’t be as close again until 2034.

  • A blue moon is just the second full moon in a month.
  • A supermoon is a very close full moon, which makes it appear brighter and bigger.
  • A total lunar eclipse or blood moon means the moon is completely covered by the Earth's shadow.

My wife went out yesterday morning to get a few pictures. I also asked my friends on Facebook to send me their pictures.
