After a big snowstorm, the last thing you want to do is spend a bunch of time in the cold clearing off your car. But, do you have to clear off the roof too?

We've all seen that car cruising down the road with what looks like a ski resort on the roof of their car. Snows blowing on the cars behind them, big chunks of snow and ice are crashing on the road shattering icy debris everywhere.

This is absolutely dangerous to others on the road, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Isn't this illegal?

From what we found, the answer is NO. It should be, though. **If you know different, let us know.

12 states have made this practice illegal, including New Jersey, Michigan, and Connecticut.

Colorado has some pretty strict laws for winter driving, especially when it comes to driving through the mountain passes. We're surprised that this isn't one of them.

Law or not, it's best to spend a few extra minutes clearing all of the snow from your car.
