JBS Employees Receive Bonus and Temporary Raise

The JBS meatpacking facility in Greeley closed on April 14 for the safety of its employees and the public, allowing for the building to be cleaned and the plant's workers to be screened for the COVID-19 virus. Since the closure, the United Food and Commercial Workers have announced an agreement with JBS for a temporary raise for employees, according to the Denver Channel.

The $4 per hour temporary wage increase to 2,500 JBS employees will begin on April 20 and continue until May 30. JBS previously announced that employees would receive a $600 bonus as well.

JBS has also taken extra precautions for the safety of their employees by providing PPE, including gloves, masks, and face shields. Plexiglass will also be installed as shielding in areas that social distancing is not possible, cafeterias and break rooms will be expanded, and cleaning procedures throughout the plant will be enhanced.
