Fort Collins Police is investigating a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision that left a juvenile critically injured earlier this week.

According to an official press release from the City of Fort Collins, Fort Collins 911 received multiple calls at about 5:59 p.m. on Tuesday (July 6) regarding a car vs. pedestrian collision at the Rosetree Village Apartments club house, located at 953 Richmond Drive in Fort Collins.

Once officers arrived on scene, they were informed of the incident which involved a 2014 Buick Lacrosse and a pedestrian - a juvenile male. The Buick reportedly had left the roadway and traveled through a grassy area and drainage ditch before striking the juvenile. The car eventually came to a stop in the club house parking lot, as per the press release.

An adult male, the sole occupant of the vehicle involved in the collision, did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident.

The juvenile male that was struck by the vehicle, however, sustained serious injuries from the incident. He was initially taken to an area hospital before being transferred to another hospital for specialized care.

The Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team responded to take over the investigation due to the severity of the injuries of the juvenile.

Richmond Drive was closed in between the 1000 block to Cunningham Drive for about 4.5 hours on Tuesday night while investigators processed the scene.

“Our investigators are conducting interviews, collecting and analyzing evidence to determine what led up to this incident, and will work to provide answers to those involved,” said Sergeant Mike Avrech who oversees the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team.
