Going out to grab a fireworks show? Whether you're heading down to City Park or somewhere else in Colorado, it's important to remember your pets during this holiday season.

The Larimer Humane Society recommends several ways to keep your pets in mind this July 4th. Their first piece of advice? This one's easy— never use fireworks near pets.  "In addition to the risks fireworks pose to our furry friends, outdoor festivities, access to party foods/beverages, and the deviation from a pet's typical routine can also result in injuries and illnesses," The LHS noted in a newsletter. With that in mind, if you are having a party, make sure to keep the human food and drink out of reach of your furry friends.

The ASPCA recommends keeping matches, lighter fluid, alcoholic beverages, and citronella candles away from your pets, which seems obvious, but can be a minor oversight if you're focusing more on entertaining your guests.

Keep your pets in mind this fourth of July and offer them comfort when they need it— it could make all the difference.
