Hundreds of Colorado children ages 5- to 11-years-old headed to the Denver Zoo over the weekend to get their COVID-19 vaccinations.

Now that the FDA and CDC have given the green light for kids 5- to 11-years-old to get their Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinations, places like the Denver Zoo are holding clinics to help not only make it easier to access the vaccine but make it a little more of a calming setting for the younger kiddos to get this shot.

According to 9News, Colorado Governor Jared Polis and the Denver Zoo teamed up for the event this past Saturday which resulted in hundreds of kids being given their vaccine.

The idea to hold a clinic like this is neat because getting kids to the doctor for a shot can be tricky! I know personally from a recent experience as my son had to get his flu shot just a few weeks ago, and he got a little cray cray! Hell, I’m in my 30’s and still don’t like to get shots but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. It would be much easier to go to the zoo than a doctor's office as far as my son is concerned.

All kids who chose to get their vaccine, as well as their parents or chaperones, were given either free admission to the zoo or given a voucher to go back and enjoy it on another day. Saturday was a perfect Colorado weather day though, so most looked to have stuck around!

The Denver Zoo clinic was one of many planned events happening around Colorado, including an event right here in Northern Colorado at the Greeley Funplex this Thursday from 3-7 pm. Adults can also get their vaccines or boosters at this event as well. You can see a full list of upcoming vaccine clinics and available appointments HERE, or check individually with your Primary Physician.
